The DME Coordinator will provide the highest level of customer service to our patients, physicians, and all practice and surgery center personnel. The right candidate will provide proper fitting and education of orthopedic durable medical equipment (DME) to patients, gather necessary paperwork to facilitate billing on behalf of the practice and collect payments at the time of service. 

Essential qualities necessary:

Include, but are not limited to:

  • Fitting both off the shelf and custom DME along with some casting for our patients
  • Inventory Management
  • Education of physician, PA, ATC/MA, and Billing Staff on products, compliance and process changes
  • Educate patients on insurance plans and provisions, financial responsibility, and collection of the patients financial responsibility
  • Insure that all necessary documentation is obtained as it relates to government and commercial payer requirements
  • Comply with all elements of HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid and other required programs
  • Local travel may be required for product delivery
  • Minimal travel for training or short-term assignments
  • Perform pre-certification and/or authorization activities for all requested DME


The DME Program Coordinator is expected to perform position-related duties that include, but are not limited to:

  • Knowledge of  Durable Medical Equipment products commonly utilized in an Orthopedic Practice
  • Self-motivated with the ability to plan and prioritize workload
  • Must have the ability to work in a team environment and a willingness to be flexible
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills both in person and on the phone
  • Experience with the MS Office Suite
  • Detail oriented and highly organized
  • Insurance guidelines, Coding and Billing regulations and requirements
  • Strong medical terminology/ICD 10/HCPC knowledge
  • Must have good customer service skills and have the ability to work independently                             

Education/ Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • College degree highly desired   


  • Experience in fitting braces, casting/taping and the application of DME preferred
  • Must display a high level of customer service
  • Commitment to accuracy, attention to detail and follow through
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Must be a team player, accountable to POA’s budget and resources

This is a full time position, Monday through Friday with complete benefit package. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Prescription, Long –Term Disability, 401K Retirement and Profit Sharing Plan, Holidays, and paid time off.
