The role of the Coding Representative is to review documentation and enter OPA diagnostic and procedural charges – surgery and/or office visits – into office billing system on a daily basis. The Coding Representative must ensure compliance, and accuracy of the documentation and the charges entered.  Applicant must be able to work Monday-Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Enter OPA charges – surgery and/or office visits – into office billing system on a daily basis
  • Work with receptionists and medical records department and/or physicians/assistants to get missing information from the charge slips
  • Print and research NextGen (billing system) report, “Unbilled Charges”
  • Assist other personnel as directed by Department Manager
  • Interpret and troubleshoot physician documentation and coding
  • Daily use of coding CCI/AAOS and Supercoder website
  • Must follow all policies as outlined in Employee Handbook

Education/Experience:

  • 1 year minimum coding experience (Orthopedic coding experience preferred)
  • Epic experience preferred
  • CPC or COSC Certification required or ability to obtain within 6 months

  • Problem solving skills
  • Self-motivation
  • The ability to multitask
