Clinic Summary –
The Surgery Center at Rainier is a busy orthopedic and musculoskeletal practice including 6 surgeons and 1 physiatrist. Our Mission is to provide unsurpassed medical care through servant hood, commitment and skilled orthopedic excellence. Our staff strives to deliver compassionate and ethical treatment to our patients.

Position Summary –
Full time — Monday through Friday, 0830-5pm;
Competitive compensation based on candidate experience.
We are looking for a full time Medical Assistant that is willing to be part of our team. Performing under the direction of the Pre-op or PACU registered nurses clinical and certain administrative duties, including patient care, recording vital signs, obtaining medical histories, assist with admitting and discharging. This position would also be responsible to participate in keeping the departments clean and stocked with necessary supplies, disinfecting patient care areas and transferring patients between areas and at discharge wheel chairing patients to their vehicles. The ideal candidate will also be willing to cross train to our reception/admitting and medical records areas. The MA, along with every member of the ASC staff will make patient care a priority and make conveying a positive image a core part of daily work.

  • Problem solving skills
  • Skill in using a computer. Knowledge of EMR systems, preferred.
  • Knowledge of orthopedics
  • Outpatient clinical organizational ability

  • Ability to work independently and as an effective team member


  • High School education or GED required
  • Hold an active Medical Assistant Certification in the State of Washington
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Maintains a professional and friendly attitude with patients, other professionals and co-workers.
  • Orthopedic clinic practice experience preferred
  • Medical terminology knowledge required
  • EMR experience desired

  • Ability to prepare records in accordance with detailed instructions
  • Skill in organizing and reporting information that is accurate and complete

  • Must continually demonstrate the safety procedures for the ASC and utilize universal precautions where appropriate.
  • Must continually demonstrate appropriate use of body mechanics techniques.
  • As outlined in the Employee Handbook, the employee must be reliable, polite, prompt, and confidential.  The employee must be capable of efficiently but warmly interacting with patients and other physicians.  Major responsibilities will be performed according to the direction of their supervisors.

  • Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range
  • Use of telephone is required
  • Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard and phone
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear

  • Some bending and stretching required
