The Rainier Orthopedic Institute is a busy orthopedic and musculoskeletal physician practice including 6 surgeons, 1 physiatrist and 4 PA-C’s practicing in 2 clinics, 1 owned ASC and 1 hospital coverage location.  Our Mission is to provide unsurpassed medical care through servanthood commitment and skilled orthopedic excellence.  Our staff strives to deliver compassionate and ethical treatment to our patients.

Position Summary

The Rainier Orthopedic Institute, a division of Proliance Surgeons, is seeking to fill a per-diem MRI technologist position.  This position would primarily be responsible for covering vacation and sick time, but extended hour coverage is also available.

The key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform MRI procedures as ordered by referring providers.
  • Pre-screen patients with the assistance of the MRI receptionist.
  • Screen patients prior to performing the MRI procedure.
  • Return phone calls to patients that have any questions or concerns.
  • Talk with any referring provider who may have questions regarding any MRI patient or issue.
  • Communicate directly with NOIA Radiologists to correct any imaging issues.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Clinic Manager and/or department Lead.

  • Maintains a professional and friendly attitude with patients, other professionals and co-workers.

Education/Experience

  • Board Certified with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in MR or MR Certified through ARMRIT
  • Current Washington State Radiologic Technologist license
  • Current CPR/BLS
  • Musculoskeletal MRI exam experience required.
  • Prefer 2-3 years of experience working in a physician office and ambulatory MRI department.  Less experience will be considered.
  • Able to operate SIGNA Explorer 1.5T version 25.1 MRI Scanner.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Able to start IV lines to administer contrast.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard and phone.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Perform all duties in a professional and tactful manner.
  • Exercises discretion and integrity in dealing with confidential information.
  • Ability to distinguish emergency patient situations and handle them appropriately.
  • Presents a professional and caring image to patients and their family members in addition to other professionals and co-workers.

  • The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, squat, bend, reach, push/pull, and sit.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to physically assist patients on/off MRI table as well as in/out of wheelchairs.
  • Work is performed in a medical office environment.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions.
