Established in 1990 as Lakewood Orthopaedic Surgeons, Puget Sound Orthopaecis serves the Puget Sound region with comprehensive orthopaedic care in musculoskeletal disorders. Our team comprises of 17 physicians with specialties ranging from joint replacement, shoulder care, spinal care, hand and upper extremity treatment, to sports medicine and podiatric care. They work with our certified physician’s assistants and a 100-member support staff to ensure a high level of contact and ongoing patient education. We work together with the centralized goal of delivering expert, individualized and compassionate care to every patient.

Position Summary

The Operating Room Circulator RN utilizes the nursing process to provide comprehensive nursing care during the peri-operative phase. Coordinates total patient care in coordination with other health team members. Functions as a patient advocate utilizing the Patient’s Rights and Responsibilities. Demonstrates professional growth and development by accepting responsibility and accountability for one’s nursing practice

  • Provide general care that meet psychosocial, physical need, or both simultaneously of the patient in the Operating Room
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate to the team any observed changes in patient status
  • Maintain awareness of the needs of the pediatric, geriatric and patient population
  • Communicate appropriately and clearly to the members of the OR team
  • Demonstrate an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations
  • Respond to patient in emergency or physically distressful situations
  • Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity; ensures patient confidentiality
  • Meet current documentation standards and policies and completes within shift
  • Manage and operates all OR equipment safely and correctly

The essential qualities necessary include, but are not limited to:

  • Great interpersonal skills; demonstrating patience, composure and cooperation; working well with all patients, physicians and staff.
  • Understanding of and adherence to all safety, risk management and precautionary procedures, including the consistent respect for confidentiality (HIPAA)


  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred
  • Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Washington
  • BLS upon hire
  • ACLS certification within 30 days
  • CNOR certification preferred
  • Previous RN orthopedic and/or ASC experience preferred


  • Computer skills and knowledge
  • Enjoys fast-paced ASC environment
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Maintain professionalism in stressful situations

  • Required to stand and walk continuously
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds; frequent lifting of up to 25 – 30 pounds
  • Frequent stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, and occasional kneeling, crawling and squatting
  • High frequency of telephone usage and computer keyboard
  • Ability to see, hear, and speak continuously at a level to meet all essential functions of the job
  • Ability to prioritize and process with accuracy
  • Work is of high attention and mental demands including the ability to prioritize and process with accuracy
