Provide patient accounting services including charge and payment posting and adjustments, claims and collections oversight and addressing billing inquiries with patient and health plans.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Troubleshoots and problem solves patient accounts
Posts private and insurance payments/vouchers
Posts phone payments
Completes adjustments to patient accounts
Updates patient insurance information, including memo entry for billing documentation
Provides customer service – answers billing inquiries from patients and/or healthcare providers
Creates refunds for patient or insurance over-payments
Follows collection process; which includes written and verbal correspondence with patients on unpaid claims.
Writes protest/appeal letters to insurance companies.
Balances batches and deposits
Provides insurance information support to clinic staff

Education / Experience
Education / Certification/ Experience
Previous work experience in customer service, patient billing office and other related health care field
Medical coding, accounts receivable and collections experience required
Experience with health plan/insurance claims
Minimum two years in patient accounting
Previous experience in ENT or surgical billing preferred
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to organize, prioritize and work efficiently with attention to detail
Working knowledge of an electronic medical record
Ability to grasp new concepts and skills
