Beginning last year, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released clinical data on Medicare patients who had spine procedures in a hospital. Proliance Surgeons is the largest surgical practice in Washington State and many of our surgeons have data included. We are excited to show you how we do.
It is exciting to report that our Medicare patients in particular have excellent clinical outcomes for inpatient spine surgery. Although Medicare patients account for only a portion of our patient population, their health tends to be less robust and their surgeries are usually more complicated than many of our other patients, so having excellent clinical outcomes for these patients is especially compelling.
MPIRICA uses the CMS data to create clinical quality scores for the nation’s surgeons and hospitals: “Backed by a rock-solid methodology and nearly 30 years of rigorous medical quality analysis by Harvard-trained cardiologist Dr. Michael Pine and MPA Healthcare Solutions, the MPIRICA Quality Score represents an accurate, apples-to-apples comparison of medical providers at the surgical procedure level.”

have outcomes in the Excellent category and eight of whom have outcomes above 500.
