Matthew Lyons, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in shoulder care and sports medicine. His clinical focus includes advanced treatment of shoulder conditions, sports-related injuries, elbow and wrist conditions, knee ligament injuries, cartilage restoration, and fractures of the upper and lower extremities.

Dr. Lyons brings 12 years of orthopedic experience to Proliance Orthopedic Associates. Before joining Proliance, he served as Chief of Orthopedics at Kaiser for three years and participated in national leadership committees focused on implant selection and pricing, sports and shoulder replacement care, and implant ethics. He was also selected as an ISAKOS Traveling Fellow in sports medicine, reflecting his commitment to advanced orthopedic care and collaboration within the field.

Dr. Lyons was drawn to Proliance Orthopedic Associates because of the opportunity to work alongside physicians at the top of their field while practicing within an independent, physician-led model of care. He values the ability to provide thoughtful, individualized treatment while helping patients return to the activities and lifestyle that matter most to them.

Dr. Lyons takes a collaborative approach to patient care. At the first appointment, patients can expect a careful evaluation focused on accurately diagnosing the problem and developing a treatment plan that fits their goals, lifestyle, and needs. He believes treatment should be individualized, whether that means beginning with non-surgical options, considering surgery when appropriate, or adjusting the plan if the first approach does not provide the desired result.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Lyons enjoys spending time with his family, including his twins, a boy and a girl who are almost 10 years old.
