Seattle Restaurateurs Jump into Action with the Restaurants Rebuilding Lives Crowdfund Campaign
Dick’s Drive-In, Gravity Payments, Tom Douglas, TanakaSan & ProOrtho team together to launch a unique online crowdfunding campaign to benefit the Millionair Club Charity & begin a long overdue kitchen renovation.

SEATTLE –– Oct 2, 2015 — Ninety-five years ago the economic strife of WWI left many in Seattle struggling for both meals & work. That winter Millionair Club Charity founder Martin Johanson noticed the soup kitchen line growing every day outside his own Pioneer Square office and took matters into his own hands. Johanson offered meals and shelter, if folks were willing to work.

Today, supporters of the Millionair Club Charity Dick’s Drive-In Restaurants, Tom Douglas, TanakaSan, ProOrtho & Gravity Payments have joined together to inspire Seattle to make a difference via the Restaurants Rebuilding Lives crowdfunding campaign with over $20,000 in initial donations.

The campaign kicks off today October 2nd and runs until October 31st. Everyone can ensure that Restaurants Rebuilding Lives makes a difference in these colder months by going to www.crowdrise.com/restaurantrebuild from any mobile device or computer.

The campaign goal of $150,000 will kick-off a Restaurant Rebuild project at the Millionair Club Charity. The funds will be used to build a new industrial kitchen that will significantly increase the capacity for the Millionair Club to provide high-quality meals, training & jobs for those struggling with homelessness in Seattle. Donations of any size are welcome.

“We have always worked to make a difference for those struggling with homelessness in our community. The Millionair Club Charity has made a huge difference in Seattle over the last 95 years and we want to do everything we can to help!” said Jim Spady President of Dick’s Drive-In. “Together, we can help provide more meals, training & jobs to those struggling to turn the corner.”

“TanakaSan and Tom Douglas are delighted to join together on this project for the Millionair Club Charity! At TanakaSan we’ve always strived to help those looking for a first job and a step up. In fact, we already employ several workers from The Millionair Club Charity.” said Chef/Owner Eric Tanaka. “That’s why we support the Millionair Club Charity. This is the right time for our community to come together and rebuild the Millionair kitchen.”

“Gravity Payments is a young company that’s always looking for creative ways to give back to our community!” said Dan Price CEO of Gravity Payments. “This campaign is both innovative & inclusive because all of Seattle can donate – you don’t have to attend an event & you can share it with friends, family & colleagues.”

“ProOrtho has been a longtime member of the Puget Sound community & we’re honored to join with Dick’s Drive-In, Tom Douglas, TanakaSan & the Millionair Club Charity as we push to reach our goal!”! Said Dr. Jeffrey S. Roh of ProOrtho. “We’re thrilled to support the Millionair Club, rebuild their kitchen & inspire the rest of Seattle to make a difference with us.”
