Overview

An Obstetrician/Gynecologist, or OB/GYN, is a doctor who specializes in caring for a woman’s overall health.  They can serve as a primary physician and often consult with other physicians to diagnose and treat symptoms. Women need to see an OB/GYN on a regular basis for preventative care, disease screening, family planning, including during pregnancy and childbirth, and reproductive health in general.
