Proliance Pacific Rim Orthopaedic Surgeons is a locally owned and operated orthopaedic office that has been established in Bellingham since 1968. We provide comprehensive orthopaedic patient care for bone and joint conditions, helping people of all ages get healthy and stay that way.

We are a fast-paced orthopedic clinic looking for a Clinical Assistant team member who will partner with physicians and physician assistants to provide direct patient care: rooming patients, obtaining and documenting medical and health history accurately into an electronic medical records, scheduling patients for appointments, surgeries and imaging studies, etc.

Welcome to apply: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA; we will certify you as an RMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA or MA-C), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Athletic Trainer (ATC).

 

  • Rooming patients, obtaining vitals and other patient information and documenting into an electronic medical record
  • Basic incision care/facilitates simple wound management under provider orders, clinic room set-ups

 

Administrative duties include:

  • Basic phone triage under the direction and supervision of an MD or PA
  • Appointment, surgery and imaging scheduling
  • Obtaining insurance authorizations
  • Assisting provider in documenting details of patient encounter
  • Order tests and referrals
  • May maintain patient files, records, and other information including entry of data into electronic medical record

The essential qualities necessary include, but are not limited to:

  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Great interpersonal skills; demonstrates patience, composure and cooperation; team player with a great attitude.
  • Understanding of and adherence to all safety, risk management and precautionary procedures, including the consistent respect for confidentiality (HIPAA, OSHA, etc.).
  • Experience and be proficiency working with computers and electronic medical records.
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
  • Quick learner, flexible and adaptable to different working styles, and must have the ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Problem solving skills.

Candidates must be available to work between 8am to 5pm, Monday through Thursday; and 8am-4pm Fridays. Due to the nature of patient care, some overtime and work beyond opening or closing hours may be required.

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing applicable to licensure
  • Current Washington State Department of Health State licensure (or ability to be licensed)
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the accurate meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, prescription medication knowledge and understanding, general and orthopedic conditions and diseases, ability to proficiently perform physician directed patient treatment is a plus

  • Job requires frequent walking, escorting 20+ patients per day, from lobby to exam room (may include pushing wheelchairs or assisting patients with limited mobility; assisting patients in undressing and dressing; assisting into and out of chairs and/or wheelchairs; onto and off of exam room tables, etc.)
  • Some bending, stretching and reaching required
  • Frequent use of telephone is required
  • Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Sometimes requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours
