Position Summary

Clinic Summary

Established in 1990 as Lakewood Orthopaedic Surgeons, Puget Sound Orthopaedics serves the Puget Sound region with comprehensive orthopaedic care in musculoskeletal disorders. Our team comprises of 18 physicians with specialties ranging from joint replacement, shoulder care, spinal care, hand and upper extremity treatment, to sports medicine and podiatric care. They work with our certified physician’s assistants and a 100-member support staff to ensure a high level of contact and ongoing patient education. We work together with the centralized goal of delivering expert, individualized and compassionate care to every patient.

Position Summary

The MR Technologist performs diagnostic orthopedic MRI procedures according to radiology requirements and safety protocols.

  • Perform MRI procedures at a tech level in accordance with radiologist protocols
  • Maintain proper quality control procedures
  • Must have knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to MRI exams
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationship with patients, staff and the public
  • Knowledge of concepts, standards, procedures and equipment
  • Must be able to work extended hours when necessary
  • Ability to research devices based on MRI safety protocols
  • Maintain a safe and appropriate work area. Maintain inventory of supplies
  • Follow employer work practices as described in TDC Occupational Exposure Plan policy
  • Knowledge of basic patient care and activities that may be necessary during exam
  • Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Work as a team member within the imaging department and all other departments
  • Document work processes as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Graduation from an accredited ARRT radiographic technologist program
  • ARRT MRI certificate
  • WA State Department of Health License
  • ARRT licensed
  • Minimum six months’ experience as a MRI technologist in the past three years required. Previous experience in orthopedic healthcare preferred
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certified in CPR/First Aid


  • Must be able to communicate effectively
  • Must have knowledge of medical terminology
  • Must be able to organize work and establish procedures
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language
  • Must be skilled in performance of basic computer/keyboard functions

  • Required to sit, stand and walk continuously
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds
  • Frequent stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, and occasional kneeling, crawling and squatting
  • High frequency of telephone usage and computer keyboard
  • Ability to see, hear, and speak continuously at a level to meet all essential functions of the job
  • Ability to prioritize and process with accuracy
