Clinic Summary

Orthopedic Specialists of Seattle consists of 8 board-certified Orthopedic Surgeons with subspecialty training in Sports Medicine, Arthroscopic Surgery, Spine Surgery, Joint Replacement Surgery, Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, Hand and Microsurgery, and Foot and Ankle Surgery.  Our Seattle Orthopedic Center facility also offers ancillary services of MRI, Physical Therapy, and Outpatient Surgery.In addition, OSS has 6 Orthopedic Physician Assistants and over 50 employees to provide the upmost care for each patient.We have two clinic locations, one in Ballard and another in Wallingford.

Position Summary

The Patient Services Representative I (PSR) represents the face of Proliance Surgeons and the first impression for our patients and their loved ones.  The PSR acts as a liaison associate for patient appointments, accommodation and access to the physician.  This includes booking appointments including follow-ups, greeting patients, using appropriate medical terminology while verifying eligibility, processing necessary information to support that activity and triaging with physicians and medical assistants on acute scheduling problems.

  • Provide exemplary customer service
  • Greet and direct patients, sales personnel and visitors.
  • Check in/verify information for established and new patients, confirm insurance/referral, consent forms and all patient information are up to date in practice management software and electronic medical record systems
  • Identify payor source, verify insurance eligibility and financial status
  • Enter personal health information and financial information into practice management system with a high rate of accuracy; complies with federal and local laws to ensure patient privacy
  • Assist patients with completion of paperwork when necessary
  • Inform patients of delay or wait time for appointments
  • Review records for completeness, print necessary updates and put records in order
  • Review physician clinic schedule for accuracy
  • Collect and post co-pays
  • Facilitate flow of patients by coordinating with medical assistants
  • Schedule appointments, conferences and meetings in person
  • Schedule interpreters for patient appointments as needed
  • Complete duties and assist others as directed
  • Must follow all policies as introduced during new associate On-Boarding, updated real time and outlined in Employee Handbook

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma or the Equivalent
  • 1-2 years relevant experience in public contact, preferably in medical office environment
  • Minimum 1-year front office or reception experience, medical preferred
  • NextGen and/or EMR experience (desired)
  • Knowledge of practice management software and patient portal software is a plus

  • Outpatient clinical organizational ability
  • Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations

  • Some bending and stretching required
  • Use of telephone is required
  • Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours
