Seattle Surgery Center, an orthopedic-specialized ambulatory surgery center, is looking for a dynamic leader with strong communication skills, experience in the operating room, high attention to detail and passion for providing excellent patient care.

This is a key role responsible for daily operations in the Pre-Op/PACU/Pre-Anesthesia screening departments based on the needs of the day to include supervision of MA/CNA/RN direct reports and collaboration with other leadership to facilitate daily operational flow.

· Follows and models Seattle Surgery Center policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for perioperative nursing care according to accepted standards.
· Assists in program development for effective pre-anesthesia screening
· Participates in daily staffing schedule for Preop/PACU in accordance with the clinical needs of the day. Provides direct patient care as needed to assist
· Collaborates with the OR leadership to facilitate daily operational flow in accordance with safe patient care standards.
· Performs staff performance evaluations and competencies.
· Provides leadership and support in developing and maintaining effective relationships with the center staff and the medical staff.
· Responsible for hiring and orientation of Preop/PACU employees.
· Assists QI/Risk Management/Infection Control/Safety Coordinator as relates to Preop/PACU areas.
· Plans, implements, and evaluates pre and post operative nursing care for patients based on individual, specific patient needs, and according to physician’s orders.
· Assign staff to daily, weekly, and monthly checklists for various department tasks
· Maintains and demonstrates current skills and knowledge of IV narcotic admin, medication administration and effects, patient assessment, airway maintenance, patient teaching, emotional/social support of patients and families, and other needed clinical competencies.
· Remains calm and functions as a team member during times of stress and crisis situations.
· Seeks involvement in activities that promote professional growth, team environment and collaboration with all departments in the facility.
· Initiates, participates and attends all mandatory in-services and meetings.
· Facilitates and documents pre-op/pacu huddles as needed
· May have additional responsibilities as designated by the Director, which include, but are not limited to, serving on committees, participating in quality improvement audits, and projects.

• Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities
• Strong organizational skills

• Licensed RN within WA state
• Proficient with BLS and ACLS
• Minimum of 3 years nursing experience with prior experience as charge nurse or supervisory role
• Experience working in an ASC is strongly preferred

Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, and sit. Work is performed in an office hospital and surgical environment. Some bending and stretching required. Use of telephone is required. Manual dexterity required for use of surgical instruments, and computer keyboard. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
