Senior Tax Accountant

Position Summary

The Tax Accountant will be involved with  assuring of best practices being implemented and adhered to by the organization in all Tax Matters. This includes but is not limited to preparing, reviewing and filing Proliance’s tax returns, assisting in the preparation of provision workpapers, researching tax issues, and maintaining tax calendars and due date listings. This position will interface with external tax accountants for the annual corporate filings and the internal finance team for accrual based estimates and projections. This role is a major contributor to tax planning strategies and provides guidance to teams on compliance activities.


The Tax Accountant is expected to prepare and file the following returns and documents:

  • Personal Property Tax returns for each location
  • Quarterly and Annual payroll tax returns
  • Unclaimed property (Escheatment) remittance and collection
  • City, State and B&O Taxes
  • Vendor 1099’s (review)
  • Employee W2 (review)

The Tax Accountant is expected to perform position-related duties that include, but are not limited to:

  • Interfacing with the external tax accountants for preparation of annual corporate tax return and unique tax topics that arise throughout the year.
  • Monitoring and Reporting Use Tax.
  • Process Development and Improvement
  • Act on IRS and any other taxing authority correspondence
  • Provide tax estimates, accrual entries, and budget projections.
  • Works with Controller to implement and communicate tax related policies and procedures for the organization.
  • Communicates clearly and consistently with physician shareholders, care center leadership, and the executive team.
  • Participate in special projects, developmental opportunities, backup support for other areas within the department, and other tasks, as necessary.
  • Ability to work collaboratively under pressure, juggle tasks and work efficiently against deadlines
  • Must have excellent time management skills and sound judgment.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience working with Accounts Payable.
  • Solid organizational skills along with an aptitude for information technology.
  • Experience with Intacct a plus.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to exhibit cooperation, flexibility, and provide assistance when interfacing with physicians, management and staff.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Skill in organizing and reporting information that is accurate and complete.
  • Consistency and timeliness in attendance.
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting
    • Minimum five years of accounting experience
    • Certified Public Accountant preferred (active or inactive)
    • Healthcare and/or public accounting tax experience a plus
    • Strong organizational and analytical skills
    • Independent self-starter with a drive to strive for continuous improvement
    • Ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines.
    • Experienced with MS Office products (mainly Excel)
    • Experience with ERP systems
    • Must be able to communicate to different levels of individuals including physician shareholders, Proliance executives, operations management and external partners
