Southwest Seattle Surgery Center, a division of Proliance Surgeons in Burien is a two-room freestanding surgery center focusing on the specialties of Orthopedics, ENT & Facial Plastics. We are looking for a team focused, hardworking Surgical Technologist. We are specifically looking for someone with a strong focus on customer service, sterility and quality standards.

Flexible day shift hours are available: no nights, no holidays, no weekends, no call!

Position Summary

The Surgical Technologist, under minimum supervision, performs a variety of duties in the department as a member of the Surgery Center team. Must have the ability to scrub on all cases performed at the Center. Is responsible for the set-up and maintenance of the sterile field. Assists in the preparation of the room and opening of the sterile supplies/equipment for surgical cases. Assists in the preparation of cases by ensuring all items are available and safe for use.


  • Prepare and organize the operating room equipment, instruments, and supplies as required for various surgical procedures
  • Set up a sterile and sanitary environment, and maintain the sterile field for the patient during procedures
  • Anticipate surgeon and patient needs during a procedure
  • Disinfect, clean and prepare for sterilization, any instruments, equipment, and supplies utilized at the Surgery Center
  • Operate equipment used in processing instrumentation, such as ultrasonic cleaner, washer-disinfector, low and high temperature sterilization, using the appropriate settings
  • Document and maintain logs of instrumentation sterilization and use
  • Run appropriate tests on processing equipment and log results in an organized fashion
  • Notify Charge RN or Director of any parameters out of range or of concern
  • Utilize correct body mechanics in moving, transporting, and positioning patients, stretchers, and/or tables in order to prevent injury to patient and personnel
  • Follow relevant safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Participate in orientation and education of all operating room staff on an ongoing basis
  • Participate in stocking and restocking medical supplies.
  • Provide surgeons, patients and other members of the surgical team with necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment.


  • Good visual and hearing acuity
  • Ability to lift/transfer patients in excess of 100 pounds, which may require pushing, pulling, and utilizing a full range of body movements. Ability to stand walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl
  • Manual dexterity to operate equipment and handle instrumentation
  • Ability to withstand prolonged periods of standing
  • Periodic exposure to possible injury when lifting requires proper body mechanics and adherence to safety procedures
  • Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills in order to facilitate effective interaction with a variety of health care professionals and personnel
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and have the capability to organize and prioritize work with attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in stressful situations within a team environment
  • Ability to flex work hours as needed and/or requested by management


  • Successful completion of BCLS.
  • Prior knowledge of surgical instrumentation and peri-operative equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to study, understand, adapt and respond effectively to a constantly changing environment.


  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited training program, certification (CST) preferred


  • Minimum two years’ surgical experience preferred, Surgery Center experience preferred


  • Current Surgical Technologist Registration through Washington State Department of Health
